The Minnesota Timberwolves made a massive splash this offseason, landing star point guard LaMelo Ball, and the buzz hasn't died down yet. According to longtime Timberwolves beat writer Jon Krawczynski, the front office is confident this gamble will pay off. They believe Ball's elite vision and creative playmaking can be the key that finally pushes Anthony Edwards into superstar territory.

Last season, Minnesota posted a solid 49-33 record, good for sixth in the Western Conference. But to truly compete in this bloodbath of a conference, the front office decided to roll the dice big-time this summer, bringing in the flashy Ball. Krawczynski noted, "The Timberwolves really value Ball's passing. They think he can get the offense flowing and take some of the ball-handling pressure off Edwards, which should let Ant-Man's scoring instincts run wild."

Word is, Ball's performance since joining has already won over the organization. Krawczynski added, "So far, everything Ball has shown has the Wolves feeling great. The team believes that being in a pressure cooker with high expectations could bring out the best we've ever seen from him."

As the new season looms, how this pair of No. 1 picks — one a point guard wizard, the other a human highlight reel — will mesh is the question every Minnesota fan is dying to see answered. If Ball can deliver the kind of playmaking he's known for, the Timberwolves might not just beat last year's win total. They could actually kick off a full-blown "Wolf Pack" storm in a West that's already stacked.
